Pleasures Meme

Karen tagged me for a meme. I couldn't think of six indulgences I participate in that would be a surprise, so I am taking one category and adding another:

Name six pleasures you once considered guilty but have now either abandoned or made peace with:

1. Soda. I stopped drinking it several years ago. My trusty H2O bottle keeps me hydrated.

2. Facebook/Myspace. I resisted social networking sites for a long time, but I finally gave in this year. Now I know exactly what everyone I went to middle school and high school with is up to.

3. Fad diets. They just don't work, or they work for a little while and then you gain the weight back.

4. Reality TV. I love it. Survivor and the Amazing Race are my favorites. I enjoy Hell's Kitchen, Top Chef and Kitchen Nightmares, too. At least I don't watch the craptastic ones on VH1!

5. Chick lit. I thought at one point that maybe it would be fun to read this silly genre, but I just don't have the patience for it. I like to be taken to a new place or learn something new or interesting when I read. I think this is because I had a complete overload of romance novels when I was in middle school!

6. Shopping. It is just not my favorite thing to do. If there is something specific I need I will go get it, but I am not about the browsing and the spending way too many hours walking up and down aisles for no good reason. I am not my mother's daughter. Does this mean I am not a woman?

3 behaviors/fads/indulgences I don't understand:

1. Snobby Mac people. You like your computer and like to spend a bunch of money on proprietary hardware and software. I get it. But is it really worth the righteous attitude? Lots of people use a PC and for good reason. If you like it, say you like it stop talking down to people who don't want to line Apple's pockets.

2. People who are rude online just because they are anonymous. Have some integrity people.

3. The obsession with designer purses/shoes. I really see this as a way to impress other people and nothing else. I like my purses/shoes to be as functional and cute as the next female, but there are certainly enough inexpensive varieties of these things that make me believe I will never shell out money for labels. I want friends to like me for me and not for the labels on my clothes.

So yeah, I obviously made this meme a bit easier. That is all I've got. :)

Haha, so it seems that I've kept a lot of the "guilty pleasures" that you've abandoned or don't get! Ah, well. I'm with you on the Mac thing. It seems like a cult sometimes!

Yes, but I think I am an oddity in such things. I mean, what woman doesn't love handbags and purses? I am a freak. :]
