New Desk

Well, the new desk is finally implemented. The old desk just wasn't cutting it anymore; in fact, I wanted to toss it when we moved into the house three years ago!

Because the upper shelf went all the way across, I didn't really have room to open a book AND write. One or the other was ok, but the two together were just too much. Also, I would have to hold my trackball mouse in my lap so that my arm wouldn't ache as there was no room for the mouse on the keyboard tray.

Beyond all these things, the old desk was a cheap find at Walmart when JP was furnishing his apartment years ago. It was kind of a glorified cart with no wheels.

The new desk is just perfect. It is a lovely, grown-up and functional desk. I spotted it in Office Depot during the last trip and decided it was the one. I can open a book and have space to write at the same time. Also, both the computer and the server fit into the lower cabinet without an inch to spare!

JP had a heck of a time getting all the wires -- we are talking at least 30 -- back where they needed to go in a somewhat organized fashion, but they are all pretty much hidden from view, just the way I like them! Click for my notes.



The assembly and reorganization was a bit stressful at times, but I am excited to have a new and functional workspace! One goal down, way too many to go.
